Jonathan had discovered our original set of tall, eye-catching tiki swizzle sticks on Etsy. While he loved the tiki style and playful vibe, he had one concern—his go-to cocktail glasses were much shorter than the standard highball. He wasn’t sure if the stirrers would be practical, and he had a couple of quick questions: Could we make them shorter? And could we remove the personalization?
We were more than happy to say yes.
Listening First, Then Creating
When Jonathan messaged us, we jumped into conversation right away. He told us he was using Mai Tai and Double Old Fashioned glasses, and he wanted the decorative top of the stirrer to rise just above the rim—without towering over the drink. We asked for a quick measurement of the inside of his glass, and from there, we were able to recommend a total length of 6.5 inches to achieve the perfect balance.
Even though our original design was longer and personalized, we offered to create a custom tiki swizzle stick for short glasses: same great design, just shorter, and with no engraving. As we refined the sizing and stick type, we checked in with Jonathan about whether he preferred the original wide wooden handle or a slimmer paddle stick that would better showcase the engraved monkey motif near the top.
He ended up liking a shorter mockup we sent over and gave the thumbs up. In his own words: “Oh yeah, that looks great. I like the last mockup you sent. Those will be perfect.“
Fast Turnaround, Big Impact
Once we got his final approval, we got right to work. Jonathan placed his order, and we were able to move into production immediately. The next thing he knew, he was getting photos of his new stirrers already coming to life.
His reaction? “Whoa…that looks awesome. Didn’t expect to have them made so fast. Definitely looking forward to putting them in use.“
